CHAKTOMUK MARSHLAND

A bushy shrubland Chaktomuk Marshland, north of Phnom Penh, favours the endemic Cambodian Tailorbird (Orthotomus chaktomuk). This endangered bird was first discovered and recorded by scientists in 2009. In 2013 it was determined to be a unique species. The dense shrubland habitat, allowed this bird to remain undetected despite its close proximity to the country’s capital. We are likely to see this endemic bird on a short excursion, when travelling from Mondulkiri or Kratie, to Phnom Penh or Siem Reap.
